Bernice Abeku



Fellow Biography

Bernice Abeku is a graduate of Geology and Mining from the prestigious University of Jos, Nigeria and an ardent believer in the ability of solid-mineral mining to revive the Nigerian economy and bring lasting solutions to many ills plaguing our society. As a Youth Ambassador of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), she teams up with other young Nigerians to execute projects that raise awareness on mining, conservation of the earth, natural resources and renewable energy sources for the sustainability of the planet we live in and the human race.

She is a student-member of the Nigerian Mining & Geosciences Society (NMGS), Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists/American Association of Petroleum Geologists (NAPE/AAPG) as well as the Women in Mining Nigeria (WIMIN). Bernice Abeku is also a team member of the non-profit ‘Project Burning Issues’, a group whose core mandate is to raise awareness on pressing issues in our immediate environment and emphasizes the roles of youths in tackling them. She served in the Mines and Steel Development/ Energy units of the Bureau of Public Enterprises where she observed and participated in the reforming processes of under-performing government enterprises. Bernice loves music, meeting people and learning new things.
