Hafsat Grema is a livestock expert and a researcher, with 8 years’ experience in research for sustainable development of the livestock industry including aquaculture. Hafsat is currently working with University of Maiduguri as Senior lecturer in the Department of Veterinary Medicine and provides consultancy
services to International humanitarian organizations based in Borno State, empowering those who lost their agricultural livelihoods to conflicts. In 2018, she was part of the team responsible for project implementation for humanitarian agents conducting livestock projects.
Being passionate in changing the status quo of her community, Hafsat founded an initiative with sole objectives towards eliminating socio-cultural, economic and environmental challenges within and outside Borno State. Hafsat was educated at University of Maiduguri with Masters in Food Animal Medicine in 2012, and graduated from University of St. Andrews, Scotland with Masters in Sustainable Aquaculture and a PhD in Food Animal Systems from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2018. She has published several papers in reputable academic journals. In her spare time, Hafsat loves to spend time with family and friends, read and learn new skills.
